We were contacted back in July 2025 by a musician performing under the name of HerOrangeCoat, asking permission to come and roam the woods until she found a place where she felt inspired, settle down and write a song using vocals and ukulele, then record it in situ.
This process was a part of the project called The Woodland Sessions, backed by the Youth Music NextGen Fund. Capturing the spaces that inspired them, these field recordings were all written and recorded by HerOrangeCoat out in various woodlands, each in a single day.
The finished song is available here. The EP of all five songs was released on 20 February and is available here: Music | HerOrangeCoat
She has also created a full video, The Making of The Woodland Sessions, which can be viewed here. (The section recorded in Knaresborough Forest Park runs from 23 minutes 58 to 30 minutes 45.)
We were thrilled that she chose us as one of her locations and would encourage any other artists who are inspired by Knaresborough Forest Park to get in touch.
