A busy day on KFP!

We had two working parties on the go today, making the most of the good weather.
We had already planned a hedge-laying day, recreating a hedge between the trees on the hay field on Bilton Hall Drive. One of the issues we are meeting on this field is dog walkers accessing the field through gaps in the hedge and letting their dogs run and leave their poo on a field we reap unsprayed hay from. We would therefore like to protect both the hay and the wildlife from this.
Some of the group had just as much fun starting a bonfire using a flint and the raw materials around - despite the recent damp weather!
At the same time, another group was preparing for the first phase of tree-planting on Thursday. We were unable to transport the tree stakes and guards from the Garth across the fields because they are so boggy, so a stalwart group of volunteers barrowed them down from Bilton Hall Drive, then across the last part of the field and stacked them in piles ready for Thursday - you can see the furrows we made in the wet earth just transporting them across that short distance.
We were very lucky with the dry and sunny weather today - let us hope the tree-planting days are the same!
